Downtown Danville, Inc. is a proud member of the Illinois Main Street program.  Illinois Main Street is a comprehensive community revitalization program that promotes historic preservation and economic development of the state's traditional business districts. The program began in 1993 and continues to grow.

Recently, the IMS program has undergone some changes and made some remarkable accomplishments. Here are just a few as of June 2011:

 1.       The partnership between the Lt. Governor's office, Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and Illinois Historic Protection Agency.  Ambassador Lt. Governor Simon will be a visible presence in our communities and help reunite the state program.  DCEO brings strong organization skills and economic development outreach while IHPA provides design assistance and historical knowledge of the program.

2.      Through a successful Request for Proposal process, Business Districts Inc. (Diane Williams, team leader) brings extensive knowledge of the 4 Point Approach to the Illinois Main Street program.  The team will assess all 51 communities, provide regional training sessions, and customize on-site assistance to the needs of each community.
